Digital Citizen Academy is dedicated to improving the lives of students, parents and educators by providing resources, tools and the knowledge needed to foster a healthy balance with technology. Our research-based education, prevention and diversion programs are professionally designed to inform, protect and support young children, teenagers and adults impacted by issues resulting from technology use and overuse. Programs are designed with age appropriate content and provide trackable and measurable data for school districts and organizations.
DR. LISA STROHMAN, JD, PHD, FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
Dr. Lisa Strohman, psychologist, attorney, author, and mother established Digital Citizen Academy to help keep families safe from online dangers.
Her background working as a visiting scholar with the profiling unit at the FBI during one of the most tragic school shootings in the US helped create her passion to help proactively prevent and educate students, educators and parents on issues related to technology.
In addition to her time with the bureau, she has been a legislative intern in Congress, worked with law enforcement internet crimes units and completed her dissertation in cooperation with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the FBI.
In her private practice she has spent more than a decade working with adolescents and families with issues related to anxiety, depression and technology and almost two decades working with schools to address challenges with student mental health and well-being.
Dr. Strohman holds a Bachelors in Psychology from the University of California, Davis, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and later earned a PhD and J.D., completing a joint integrated program in Law and Psychology at Villanova and Drexel Universities.
Dr. Strohman is a national speaker at schools, parent organizations, businesses, churches and community groups where she addresses the challenges of raising responsible digital citizens and the realities of technology. She is also regularly featured in the media as a technology wellness and behavioral expert. She has been interviewed by national TV and radio news outlets and quoted in numerous print publications including Forbes Magazine, Fast Company, and Huffington Post. You can also hear her as a weekly expert guest on Dr. Drew’s Midday Live radio show.
COMMANDER JOSEPH LEDUC, LAW ENFORCEMENT ADVISOR
Joseph LeDuc serves as an advisor to Digital Citizen Academy, providing insight and guidance related to current laws involving children and internet crimes.
He has spent more than 25 years in law enforcement and currently serves as a District Commander. During his career, he has moved up the ranks from officer, working in multiple units including the DEA task force, a homicide investigator and later as a detective and supervisor in the Special Victims Unit where he oversaw all investigations for Internet Crimes Against Children. In addition to his Police Supervision Certificate, Commander LeDuc earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, and has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. In 2015, Mr. LeDuc was appointed by Arizona Governor Doug Ducey to chair the Parents Commission on Drug Education and Prevention, which serves the Governor’s Office of Youth Faith and Family.
