Our Eighth Grade Digital Citizenship Home Program was created to provide parents support in learning how to navigate their child’s digital footprints online. In the Eighth Grade Digital Citizenship Home Program, Dr. Lisa Strohman, Founder and CEO of Digital Citizen Academy, encourages eighth graders to step up and become leaders in their own digital space. Eighth graders will understand how cyberbullying has reached epidemic proportions by this grade, recognize signs of someone being cyberbullied and identify healthy ways to stand up for victims. Anxiety, depression, addiction, and obsession associated with gaming and how to manage common gaming habits will also be explored. The Eighth Grade Digital Citizenship Home Program focuses on preparing students to make responsible online decisions in high school by empowering them to become part of the solution in the digital world.
The core kit includes a Family Resource Guide that takes the parent and child step by step through all five of the online video lessons, providing suggested keywords, objectives, activities and points of discussion. The Family Resource Guide is meant to work in conjunction with the Eighth Grade Activity Kit designed to involve and motivate eighth graders through various activity sheets and materials.
